Breakfast overlooking the authentic North Coast garden, with plantings inspired by the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg. Lunch in the secluded garden patio. Hot tub in the same private setting to the sounds of the little rushing stream and of wind in the pines. Evening warmth by the wood-burning fireplace. These and more are yours to enjoy in this cozy home with master bedroom suite downstairs and two more spacious bedrooms upstairs, one with an office nook. Brookside is on one-half acre, ensuring privacy and peace. Garden lovers will especially enjoy this sheltered cottage, with hillside of daffodils and rhododendrons, and an enclosed side flower garden with many varieties of annuals and perennials, including fuchsias that attract Allens and Annas hummingbirds. A great, sunny place for that second cup of morning coffee. Brookside is a few minutes walk from Russian Gulch State Park, an overlooked treasure of the North Coast with wildflowers, headland views of Mendocino Village and a blowhole. It’s a 5 minute drive north to Point Cabrillo lighthouse, and a few more minutes to Jughandle State Park where there is excellent hiking on the headland and up the ecological staircase to the Pygmy Forest. And it’s only a few minutes more to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Experienced visitors to Mendocino expect variable
weather that brings wonderful changes to the sea and sky. On any day,
and especially on stormy or overcast days, Brookside provides the simple
pleasures of books, music and cable TV in a private, warm, well-lit and
spacious interior that many guests are happy to exchange for an ocean
view.
